Titles are difficult. A few words that say and/or stand for much more. A lead into a further description that is so enticing you say, "yes, I'll have that flavorful looking salsa...with all the nice vegetable chunks and peeking cilantro." That is the title that you want because you know chips will be grabbed and dipped furiously into the salsa leaving a drippy mess with satisfaction across the faces that came into contact with said salsa. Following recovery (a nap) they will form a "salsiety" in order to inform others of this magnificent tortilla chip topper. Yells will be yelled. Blood will be upon fists. Marching will happen with both feet. Such a surge will be created as the mass flows across the streets into businesses and smiling children on peaceful swings in the park.
Having half that reaction to a title or "the salsa" would be pretty sweet, but developing one can be a pain in the ball of your foot. To keep it simple I went with "Orange Regret," a reference to how I felt one evening following a delicious Chinese food meal that was followed with a slice or two of orange that did not enter my mouth. The original reason for not eating it escapes me, having happened on a day between the years 2004-2006, but probably hover somewhere between being full so the orange may 'topple the trash' if added on top and the thought the acidic citrus would cause a burny throat feeling. Later that evening I was corresponding with Christopher Killimanjaro and realized that I would like to have another chance at that orange slice. I shared this melancholy with Mr. Killimanjaro. His reaction at the time was to use my words to create bands and album names we would one day create and on this occasion he decided that Orange Regret records would be the label name.
There you have it: the reason for the name and the reason I'm not sitting for 2 hours trying to think of another title that I may or may not like later.
To read more there are numerous posts on another diary I used for about 4 years. The link is here: http://oddy-knocky.diaryland.com/
